Smart Grid

Rethinking the utility of power utilities

The way many people approach the smart grid resembles how the proverbial blind men of Hindustan approached the elephant. They tend to see only what appears most relevant to them.

Some consider the smart grid as an engineering challenge or as a new business model for electric power utilities. Some look at renewable energy, plug-in electric vehicles or batteries as more likely killer apps.

Some look beyond electricity to map out a larger smart grid that encompasses gas lines, water lines and transportation networks, combined heat and power, district power and cooling, community choice aggregation and more.

We believe it is vital to take a holistic approach, while relying on common sense, baby steps and simplicity to achieve our clients' objectives.
